Canada's Blue Jays Earn World Series Meeting Versus Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Astros winning the championship in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their maiden championship series after 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the ALCS.

Trailing three runs to one, Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh, leading the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 series triumph in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the upcoming World Series.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, our city, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "What an incredible feeling."

The veteran has now hit 23 total playoff homers, placing him third on the list behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another person in the world that I want up in that spot besides George Springer with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.

Seattle's team, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the sole team never to appear in a Fall Classic.

Wilson stated "certainly that it's going to sting" in the wake of his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we had to come out on the losing end of this game," he remarked.

Toronto's team secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
