The British player reached the third round in three out of four major tournaments in the current campaign.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain will not compete in the last two tournaments of the year as a result of a medical condition she has been fighting over the past 10 days.

At 22 years old was due to play in events in Asia but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate before starting her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round with Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and withdrew when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

Another medical visit was necessary a visit from the doctor at the Ningbo Open this week, where she was defeated in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the first round.

Her movement was far from freely in the deciding set against Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has affected her at times this year.

Such performances followed a positive campaign, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 for the first time since her previous ranking, finished with a trio of defeats.

She held three match points before losing to Pegula in the third stage in Beijing last month.

Raducanu won 28 matches this year and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.

As Britain's top player advanced to the quarters of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route then falling in a three-set match to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in ahead of the US Open.

The initial agreement with the former trainer of Nadal was until the end of the season but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that the trial session alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati during August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage then falling to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
