Homages Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the duo.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt ready to share openly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can now put my grief into words," shared Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the film, commenting that he could not remember "any day without laughter".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a different tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge ruled to block the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order put a restriction on the cases to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the probe.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the result of murder, with a official listing listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Response and Criticism
After the tragedy, public individuals offered divergent reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing divisive remarks that were broadly criticized by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the those speaking out last week. Talking on his podcast, Rogan labeled the statements as "shocking" and remarked they showed a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by suggesting that an associate could have acted when the choice to speak on the death was made.
