Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
