News has broken that beloved stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.

A Significant Return to Panem

Lawrence and Hutcherson are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their cameos will take the form of a brief glimpse ahead, considering the main film series concluded with their characters living in peace.

This signifies the sixth film in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.

The Source Material

Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who directed the majority of the previous films in the series.

The film's narrative are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.

The film welcomes several notable actors in pivotal roles:

• Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
• Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the calculating President Snow.

What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson is part of the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
