Jones has shared that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the team following the fallout from his public comments.

What Happened

He was omitted from a key Champions League match following criticising the club and claiming his connection to the head coach had deteriorated.

“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I apologise.’”

The head coach has refused to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the veteran striker.

Looking Ahead

Jones insisted that the dressing room atmosphere was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and everybody was exactly the same with him,” Jones added.

He also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “It's clear there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”

Positive Results

Liverpool's form have remained strong in the period after the initial controversy. Jones believes the outburst were never meant to harm the team.

“When there’s been any sort of anger, the source has been from a place of caring,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and on a positive run.”
