Pattern of Targeted Attacks
Since the beginning of the full-scale conflict in Ukraine, a string of Russian military officials have been targeted within Moscow.
This most recent event echoes other serious incidents, such as:
- General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed in a car bomb attack in Moscow earlier this year.
- General Igor Kirillov perished in late 2024 when a device concealed on a scooter was detonated remotely.
While a source from Ukraine in the past connected Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such allegations are never officially confirmed as a matter of policy.
The war has witnessed shadowy operations extending into the heart of the Russian capital.
The investigation into General Sarvarov's death remains underway.
