Viktor Gyokeres moved to Arsenal after leaving Sporting Lisbon this summer

Gunners striker Viktor Gyokeres has been omitted from the new manager's maiden Sweden squad, whereas Reds forward Alexander Isak received a place

Gyokeres is due for additional assessments in the coming days following concerns of a thigh issue in Arsenal's English top flight victory at Burnley last weekend

The 27-year-old sat out Arsenal' Champions League victory against the Czech side on Tuesday

Alexander Isak Returns

Isak, who hasn't featured since 22 October because of a groin problem, was selected for the World Cup games against Switzerland (November 15th) and Slovenia (November 18th)

Other England-based Inclusions

  • Tottenham playmaker the young talent, who is recovering from concussion
  • Newcastle winger the Swedish international

Both athletes are among the Premier League contingent named by ex- Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham manager the new Swedish coach

Potter's Hiring

The English manager took over by Sweden originally temporarily in late October, less than four weeks following his departure by the Hammers

Previous coach Jon Dahl Tomasson was sacked following the national team's 1-0 loss against Kosovo on 13 October, a result that ended straight qualification from Group B impossible

Current Standing

Sweden find themselves bottom in their qualifying group with only a single point in four matches

Should they don't manage to finish second, there remains a chance they might be involved in the World Cup play-offs as a result of their results during the previous UEFA competition
