Zambia's Daka Scores Stoppage-Time Goal to Earn Zambia Versus Mali at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Zambia's striker heads home late

Patson Daka brought to a close a lengthy goal dry spell for Zambia with his late header in Morocco.

Patson Daka emerged as the hero for Chipolopolo as his dying-moments header secured a dramatic 1-1 share of the points against Mali at the 2025 continental finals in Morocco.

Mali Takes First-Half Initiative

Lassine Sinayoko had given his side the lead shortly after the 60-minute mark in the Group A encounter at the iconic Casablanca stadium, firing in from close range after his first effort from a set-piece had been deflected.

Mali controlled the tempo and had an opportunity to go in front in the closing stages of the opening period after Nene Dorgeles was brought down in the box by Zambian defender Matthews Banda.

The designated penalty taker stepped up for Mali but his low effort was brilliantly parried by Chipolopolo shot-stopper Willard Mwanza.

The Striker's Heroic Intervention

Daka later salvaged a draw for the 2012 Afcon winners, who were for the most part outmuscled by the robust play of their opponents until the defender's delivery into the box was pounced upon by the attacker.

Tournament Table

This draw means both sides two points behind tournament hosts Morocco in the group standings after Morocco won their opening game 2-0 against Comoros at the weekend.

Chipolopolo will remain in the city to play their next game against their next opponents on the coming Friday, while The Eagles journey to the capital for a crunch match against Morocco.
