McKenna's Stance on Celtic

McKenna referred to Celtic as "an enormous soccer institution" but emphasized he is "in the middle" of a "long-term project" with Ipswich Town.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Ipswich in recent years and led them to the English top flight with consecutive elevations, but they won just a handful of victories last campaign as they were demoted back to the Championship and they presently occupy twelfth place in the Championship.

"I have not had any of those conversations," the English capital native former Irish youth international said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have given any thought to, or where any part of my focus is this week.

"I have a unique position here at a remarkable club. And we're at a really important phase of the season. Everything outside of that hasn't touched my radar."

Reports indicate that the manager would be open to speaking to the Scottish side given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when asked about these. "I don't think everyone has to publicly and announce what they were, but naturally it's a really big football club."

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he replied. "I'm unaware what mine are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I approach this job like I'll be Ipswich manager forever. I know that's not always going to be the case, but I'll always do my best as while I am here."

Bellamy's Situation

Bellamy played for the Hoops on loan from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the former Welsh forward is minded to finish the ongoing global tournament qualification, a position that would practically eliminate the mid-forties from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

Wales are presently third in their World Cup group behind group toppers Belgium and second-placed North Macedonia.
